Choice Camps Recommendation of AAVE: Surf Camp

Since 1976, more than 10,000 students from 48 U.S. states and over 40 countries have enjoyed AAVE trips throughout the world. AAVE programs combine adventure travel with service work, language study, and wilderness skills through carefully-crafted itineraries. All AAVE programs include community service projects which contribute to the environment and communities visited.

The "All About Visiting Earth" community consists of teenagers who choose active participation, individual responsibility, and who respect and care about one another. AAVE trips are led by top-notch trip leaders who teach skills that lead to a lifetime of exploration, friendship, enjoyment, and personal growth. For families looking for a summer that will exceed their expectations for leadership, safety, adventure, fun, and depth of programming, AAVE may be the perfect choice.

Trip Description

Known for its consistent river mouth surf break, Sayulita is the perfect beach to begin your surfing adventure. From your ocean-side bungalows, you ride the waves, enjoy beach games and explore hidden coves on horseback (optional).

Wind, tide, and swell will dominate your stay at Boca de Iguanas beach camp including surfing, boogie boarding, beach cook-outs and nightly campfires. Habla espanol at the beach villages of Barra de Navidad and La Manzanilla.

You go wave hunting in the beautiful Michoacan area, searching for the best waves, breathtaking Pacific snorkeling and a sweet tubing trip on the Ostula River.

At 7,200 feet, Tapalpa offers a canopy zip line adventure, an overnight hike in the magnificent mountains of the Mexican Sierra and a visit to local farms and schools to experience local Mexican culture.

The Playa Mayto Sea Turtle Service Project helps to save thousands of sea turtles through daily protection of nesting beaches. You help out by translocating eggs, patrolling beaches and releasing baby turtles. Your adventure ends in Puerto Vallarta where you say "adios" to the beaches of Mexico with a farewell fiesta.
