Choice Camps Recommendation of AAVE: Thailand

Since 1976, more than 10,000 students from 48 U.S. states and over 40 countries have enjoyed AAVE trips throughout the world. AAVE programs combine adventure travel with service work, language study, and wilderness skills through carefully-crafted itineraries. All AAVE programs include community service projects which contribute to the environment and communities visited.

The "All About Visiting Earth" community consists of teenagers who choose active participation, individual responsibility, and who respect and care about one another. AAVE trips are led by top-notch trip leaders who teach skills that lead to a lifetime of exploration, friendship, enjoyment, and personal growth. For families looking for a summer that will exceed their expectations for leadership, safety, adventure, fun, and depth of programming, AAVE may be the perfect choice.

Trip Description

You settle into the rhythms of Bangkok, traveling on long-tail boats and bicycle rickshaws, to discover famous Buddhas, ancient temples, bustling markets and the incredible Grand Palace. You also enjoy an elephant ride and bamboo river rafting.

After an overnight sleeper train to Chiang Mai, you enjoy a Thai cooking class and a day of rock climbing. To work up an appetite for more good food, you ride bikes to a nearby village where you teach English to local children and enjoy their music and games.

In the lush, forested mountains of the North, you trek to the heart of ancient Thailand. This once-in-a-lifetime adventure allows us to meet local hill tribes and experience an ancient way of life. You travel between tribes during the day and spend the evenings in traditional huts, immersed in tribal culture.

You then fly south to Thailand's famous white sand beaches, tropical blue waters and sunshine. To experience the islands, you sea kayak, snorkel, explore sea caves, and camp on your own private island. After enjoying your last days together in paradise, you head back to Bangkok and say farewell to this amazing country.
