Choice Camps Recommendation of AAVE: Ultimate Colorado
Since 1976, more than 10,000 students from 48 U.S. states and over 40 countries have enjoyed AAVE trips throughout the world. AAVE programs combine adventure travel with service work, language study, and wilderness skills through carefully-crafted itineraries. All AAVE programs include community service projects which contribute to the environment and communities visited.
The "All About Visiting Earth" community consists of teenagers who choose active participation, individual responsibility, and who respect and care about one another. AAVE trips are led by top-notch trip leaders who teach skills that lead to a lifetime of exploration, friendship, enjoyment, and personal growth. For families looking for a summer that will exceed their expectations for leadership, safety, adventure, fun, and depth of programming, AAVE may be the perfect choice.
Trip Description
Your fast-paced trip wastes no time getting started as you surge down Clear Creek's Class III and IV whitewater rapids, an outstanding way to connect with new friends. Next, you backpack in San Isabel National Forest to learn wilderness camping skills among snow-capped peaks and pristine alpine lakes.
Professional guides teach students rock climbing near Buena Vista, Colorado, covering essential safety techniques such as belaying and rappelling. Climbs are geared towards all ability levels. A second climbing trip is planned with Colorado Mountain School's world class guides including a 500-foot multi-pitch climb!
Gear up for more heart-pumping whitewater, this time on the world-renowned Arkansas River. This trip combines some of Colorado's best whitewater with spectacular scenery and riverside camping. The remote Never Summer Wilderness is the backdrop for your last backpack, as you practice and perfect the wilderness skills you learned on your previous trek. A service project will give students a chance to give back to your natural inheritance.
