Choice Camps Recommendation of AAVE: Wild Coast Discovery
Since 1976, more than 10,000 students from 48 U.S. states and over 40 countries have enjoyed AAVE trips throughout the world. AAVE programs combine adventure travel with service work, language study, and wilderness skills through carefully-crafted itineraries. All AAVE programs include community service projects which contribute to the environment and communities visited.
The "All About Visiting Earth" community consists of teenagers who choose active participation, individual responsibility, and who respect and care about one another. AAVE trips are led by top-notch trip leaders who teach skills that lead to a lifetime of exploration, friendship, enjoyment, and personal growth. For families looking for a summer that will exceed their expectations for leadership, safety, adventure, fun, and depth of programming, AAVE may be the perfect choice.
Trip Description
The goal is fun and success for all as your adventure begins in Olympic National Park with an exhilarating backpack to Lena Lake. Your next stop is the San Juan Islands where you enjoy sea kayaking and biking amidst cool towns, unique ecology, diverse marine life and pristine beaches. While on the Islands you participate in a service project with Moran State Park to help restore impacted areas.
Heading south into Oregon, you travel to Mt Hood to enjoy two days of glacier skiing or snowboarding. Those without skiing or snowboarding experience enjoy horseback riding instead. In North Bend, two fun-filled days of rock climbing teach us how to rappel and top-rope climb.
Finally, you explore the stunning Northern Cascades on a backpack exploration. The glacial features of this landscape are dazzling. You spend your last days together trekking across wildflowers meadows as snowfields glisten on the high peaks above us. This is your highest rated backpack!
