Choice Camps Recommendation of Camp Bernadette
Camp Bernadette is an all-girls traditional summer camp sponsored by the Diocese of Manchester, NH. Located just a few miles from New Hampshire’s White Mountains, Bernadette and brother camp Fatima have welcomed campers for more than a half century. Both camps offer a wide variety of land and water activities to keep campers busy throughout their two week session.
Camp Bernadette offers traditional Sunday morning church services for campers. While the camp has a religious element, roughly 25% of campers come from non-Catholic backgrounds. For families looking for a Catholic-oriented summer camp program, Camp Bernadette is a great place to meet new friends and try new things.
Program Description
The Camp Bernadette program offers a balance of structured and free-choice programming. Each day campers attend five activity periods scheduled by the camp. The scheduled programming allows campers to try every activity that Bernadette has to offer over a 2 week session. In addition, campers attend two free-choice periods each day where they can focus on their favorite activities. Campers are grouped into three age groups: Juniors (6-10), Intermediates (11-12), and Seniors (13-15).
During each session, Camp Bernadette features a special 3-day theme and celebration to end the camp experience. Special themes include 4th of July, Christmas, Carnival, Color War, and Olympics. In addition, Bernadette meets once a week with brother camp Fatima for field days, dances, and fireworks.

Camp Bernadette staff members are typically teachers or mature high school and college students. All staff members go through an interview process and pre-camp orientation session. The camp boasts an impressive 75% return rate amongst staff.
