Choice Camps Recommendation of Camp Blue Ridge

Pre-season new parent meetings and camper picnics allow families and their children to get to know each other before arriving at camp. The directors and senior staff are accessible, helpful, and passionate about the camp.
For families seeking a premier full-season camp experience, Camps Equinunk and Blue Ridge are stand-out choices that should definitely be on your list.
Program Description
Camp Blue Ridge is the summer home to 250 girls and offers a structured program that consists of six periods each day. Campers are encouraged to try a variety of different activities that include favorites like sports, arts, swimming, waterfront, climbing, and more. Younger campers have their schedules set for them, while older campers have more flexibility. A "free play" period every evening allows campers to spend more time at their favorite activities.
Camp Blue Ridge's brother camp, Equinunk, is located adjacent to the girls' camp; a scenic path and footbridge connect the two facilities. Daytime programs are separated by gender, while evening activities bring everyone together.
Staff Overview
The quality of the staff is one of Camp Blue Ridge's greatest assets; most staff members are former campers who have moved up the ranks as they've grown older. Staff members include teachers, coaches, college students, graduate students, and other youth professionals. A 'Camp Mom' is even available on-site all summer long!
As a testament to the quality of the staff, all Group Leaders at Blue Ridge have Masters Degrees in their respective fields. Owners Richard and Sheryl Kamen also hold advanced degrees - a Ph.D and Ed.D respectively.
Setting & Accommodations
Camp Blue Ridge is located on a spring-fed lake in the Poconos region of northeastern Pennsylvania. The camp's 400 acre facility is extremely well-kept, improved each year, and under three hours from New York City and Philadelphia. The camp's 75 acre lake is private, ensuring the highest levels of safety.
Blue Ridge campers live in traditional bunks with electricity, bathrooms, and showers. Each bunk typically houses 8-10 campers and 2-3 counselors. At least one counselor in every bunk is a former Blue Ridge camper.
Meals are served family-style in the camp's dining hall. In addition to kid-favorite entrees like lasagna, hamburgers, and chicken nuggets, alternatives are available at every meal for picky eaters and children with health restrictions or nutritional needs.
Safety Standards
Camp Blue Ridge has a fully equipped infirmary staffed by registered nurses and nurse assistants who are available 24 hours a day.
Camp Blue Ridge is accredited by the American Camp Association and meets more than 300 safety standards set forth by the organization.
