Camp Cobbossee is an all-boys summer camp located in Monmouth, Maine on beautiful Lake Cobbosseecontee. Under the guidance of enthusiastic and caring staff members, Cobbossee campers are able to appreciate all that Maine has to offer. The camp offers excellent sports instruction, exciting outdoor adventure programs, great waterfront sports, and all of the activities that traditional sleep-away camps typically offer.

Along with the programming, Cobbossee’s facilities are some of the best around. The site has Major and Little League baseball fields (both with their own outfield walls), a stunning kitchen and dining hall, a recently built 8,400 square foot indoor sporting complex (the Cobbadome), and regulation size lacrosse, soccer, and football fields. With a great sports program, a beautiful landscape, and top-notch facilities, Camp Cobbossee is definitely the place to be!

Program Description

Camp Cobbossee has an instructional-based program emphasizing personal instruction, skill development, and teamwork. The program is designed to give each child the full camp experience. Professional coaches and teachers work with campers at every skill level, developing proficiency in the basics for beginners, and working on strategy, plays, and teamwork with advanced players.

For boys completing 4th grade and below, a set schedule is made to ensure that each camper gets a taste of everything that Cobbossee has to offer. Boys completing 5th grade and higher choose the activities in their schedule with guidance from the Cobbossee staff.

For campers who want to participate, Camp Cobbossee offers an extensive schedule in inter-camp and tournament competitions. Any camper who wants to be on a team will have that opportunity – boys do not get cut from teams. Teams in each age group compete against teams from nearby camps in every sport–both home and away.

Staff Overview

Each Cobbossee program area is headed by a specialist who is very knowledgeable about their area. Many are college-level coaches and athletic professionals.

Camp Cobbossee recruits staff members from colleges and universities in the U.S. and abroad. All students have a desire to work with children and many are studying to be teachers. All Cobbossee counselors have completed at least one year in college.

Setting & Accommodations

Camp Cobbossee is located in Monmouth, Maine, which is 15 miles west of Augusta (Maine's capital) and less than one hour from the Portland International Jetport. Located in the stunning wilderness of Maine, all 125 acres of Camp Cobbossee are situated on the shores of magnificent Lake Cobbosseecontee.

Cobbossee cabins are rustic red color wood-framed buildings, each equipped with bathrooms, electricity, screened windows, comfortable beds, and personal shelves. Eight to twelve campers of the same age from all over the world live together with their counselors.

Food is served family-style and campers sit with other boys in their cabin and age group.

Safety Standards

Camp Cobbossee has an on-site infirmary staffed 24 hours a day by four registered nurses. In the event of a more serious illness or emergency, there are two hospitals located within 15 minutes of camp.

All waterfront staff members are American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors.

Camp Cobbossee is accredited by the American Camp Association and meets more than 300 safety standards set forth by the organization.
