Located in the Lake Sunapee region of Potter Place, New Hampshire, brother-sister camps Kenwood for Boys and Evergreen for Girls offer distinct traditional summer camp programs for each gender. Both camps offer a safe, caring environment where being a good friend carries the highest value. At Kenwood and Evergreen, teasing and bullying have no place, and the community commits itself to not just treating each other with respect, but also confronting disrespectful or hurtful behavior. As a testament to the fine program and great environment, more than 90% of Kenwood and Evergreen campers return each summer.
Program Description
Kenwood campers receive high-quality instruction in sports, the arts, and at the waterfront. Campers travel with their bunk counselors and other boys their age to each activity, where Kenwood’s specialty staff and counselors provide individualized instruction. Every group leaves camp on at least one overnight hiking trip and one overnight canoe trip, as well as many day trips throughout the summer.
On weekends and some weeknights, Kenwood campers join the girls of Camp Evergreen for creative special events.
Staff Overview
At Kenwood, bunk counselors have no other job than to care for their campers and assist specialists during activities. They are often former campers and almost every bunk counselor has grown up in camp and understands the values of a camp community.
Activity specialists, who live with other specialists in staff housing, are hired for their teaching expertise—for their ability to find a way for every child to learn and grow.
Setting & Accommodations
Kenwood cabins are spacious and comfortable-- with only 7-8 campers and 2 general counselors per bunk. Cabins feature new mattresses and new wooden or metal beds, plumbing, electricity, skylights, ample ventilation, and natural light.
Safety Standards
Camps Kenwood and Evergreen are accredited by the American Camp Association and meet more than 300 safety standards set forth by the organization.
