Choice Camps Recommendation of Camp Laurel

Camp Laurel is a traditional co-ed camp with a strong emphasis on instruction and participation. Located on stunning Echo Lake in Readfield, Maine, Camp Laurel’s picturesque surroundings provide campers with the ideal setting to experience a fantastic summer. Modern, fully-equipped facilities and high-quality equipment enhance Laurel’s cutting-edge program.

At Laurel, campers participate in group activities, team sports, and develop their individual talents. Campers spend one-on-one time with tennis, baseball, and swimming instructors, have an art lesson or theatre rehearsal, and go on special out-of-camp trips with small groups. Well-trained and experienced counselors help campers choose their activities so they get the most out of the Laurel experience. For families looking for an exceptional full-summer camp experience with a well-rounded program, Camp Laurel may be the perfect choice.

Program Description

Camp Laurel's program is designed to expose younger campers to a wide variety of new activities and to provide proper instruction. Younger campers have certain requirements for their schedules (such as regular swim lessons, tennis lessons, and team sports), but they are also able to participate in activities of particular interest to them. Careful, professional guidance by Laurel's staff goes into the development of each camper's program.

As campers grow older, they enjoy more choice in determining their program. All programs for older campers are individualized and each camper follows his or her personal schedule for each of the program days. Because Laurel offers a wide variety of activities with a great deal of in-depth instruction, it is quite possible for older campers to specialize in one or two areas of interest and to receive excellent instruction in these activities.

Staff Overview

Laurel counselors are collegians and experienced teachers from throughout the United States drawn to Laurel by recommendation and reputation. Most are over the age of 21 and have prior camping and teaching experience. The Laurel program allows them to be creative and encourages their full participation. They receive training in pre-camp orientation and continued support throughout the summer.

Setting & Accommodations
