Camp Nicolet is located in Eagle River, Wisconsin on two miles of stunning privately-owned shoreline. Nestled in the Nicolet National Forest, the camp provides prime access to many miles of scenic trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding. With a community focused on attitude and giving one’s best effort, Nicolet is a great choice for first-time campers looking for a comfortable and friendly environment. With an impressive array of outdoor activities, Nicolet empowers girls to go out and take on the wilderness. The camp’s impressive 85% camper retention rate is a testament to the quality of the program.

Program Description

The Camp Nicolet program offers a combination of structure and free-choice for campers. All campers have pre-scheduled activities in waterfront, individual sports, arts, and horseback riding programs. Most instructional activities are grouped by age and ability. Younger campers have a more structured schedule to expose them to as many different activities as possible. Older campers have more free choice options that they select throughout the summer. The camp offers friendly competition in team activities, horse shows, water sports tournaments, and more.

Camp Nicolet’s programs are developed with guidelines set forth by the American Red Cross, the USA Water Ski Association, US Tennis Association, PADI, and US Sailing. An awards program in the form of emblems is used in each program area to promote progressive learning, goal setting, and recognition.

Older camps also take part in challenge adventures that include sea kayaking trips, whitewater rafting, Canadian canoe trip, SCUBA diving, and more.

Staff Overview

All Camp Nicolet staff members participate in a ten day orientation and training session prior to the campers’ arrival. Staff members attend certification courses in First Aid, CPR, Wilderness First Aid, Lifeguard training, and USA Water Ski Instructor training.

Camp Nicolet features a diverse staff – about 15% comes from international English-speaking countries. Many staff members are former Nicolet campers who participated in the camp’s CIT program. The average staff age 22.

Setting & Accommodations

Camp Nicolet encompasses 150 acres in the heart of Wisconsin’s beautiful Northwoods. With two miles of natural sand beach, the site gives campers a true camp atmosphere in one of the nation’s most beautiful regions. The small tourist town of Eagle River is just 12 miles from camp and provides immediate access to many modern conveniences. The camp is located about 150 miles north of Green Bay and 250 miles north of Milwaukee.

Campers are housed in lakefront cabins with electricity, a bathroom, screened porch, and fireplace. Large shower facilities are located just a short walk from each cabin.

Campers eat family-style in a beautiful dining hall that provides a great variety of food at each meal. In addition to the main entrée, a salad and fruit bar is available at lunch and dinner.

Safety Standards

Camp Nicolet features an on-site medical center headed 24 hours by a registered nurse. In the event of a more serious illness or injury, an urgent care facility is located less than 15 minutes from camp.

All lifeguards are American Red Cross certified Water Safety Instructors. Every staff member is trained in first aid and CPR.

Camp Nicolet is accredited by the American Camp Association and meets more than 300 safety standards set forth by the organization. The camp is also a member of the Midwest Association of Independent Camps.
