Importance of Camp
by Anonymous - Former CamperNicolet gave me the opportunity to experience many different activities, from water skiing to campfires … each summer, camp allowed me to be a kid again. For those few weeks I was at Nicolet, all I had to worry about was what activity was next and if we would have tin foil dinners on cookouts … I have now completed my fourteenth summer at Camp Nicolet, and while I may not be a camper anymore, I understand more than ever the importance of camp.
Through my summers at Nicolet I’ve learned to become independent, to believe in myself, to be understanding, to be a role model, to push myself, to trust others, to always give my best, to love my friends as my family, to be thankful … and the list goes on and on.
Great Impact
by Anonymous - Parent of CamperThanks to Camp I have manila envelopes of hand written letters and drawings I cherish. Some of these letters only contain one sentence, “I landed the jump!” or “I passed to the next level”. In the past I’ve had friends ask, “How can you let them go for so long?” To this I simply reply, “Are you kidding? I cannot BE that much FUN! Besides, it is just healthy, for them and me!”
Camp Nicolet has had this type of impact on girls and their families since 1944. Next season the Nicolet staff will head into its 65th year of assisting families in transforming yet another generation of daughters into independent, self reliant young women. This is done without TV, I-pods, cell phones, and other electronic devices! It is done with a competent staff, chilly water, natural beauty, friendly competition, mud, sand, and a common goal of “learning to live together.”
Most Important Part of Life
by Anonymous - Parent of CamperAlthough I didn’t have the opportunity to attend camp as a girl myself, I was fortunate to be able to give my daughter, Kate, the gift of Camp Nicolet. Kate attended Nicolet for ten years - as a camper and CIT from 1993 to 2001 and then on staff in 2002. Like so many other Nicolet girls, Kate now says camp was the most important part of her life “so far”.
