Choice Camps Recommendation of Julian Krinsky Art & Architecture Summer at UPenn
The Julian Krinsky Camps & Programs: Art & Architecture Summer at the University of Pennsylvania gives students the opportunity to build their portfolio, experiment with new disciplines, and improve existing skills. The curriculum is adjusted for pacing and intensity from regular Penn courses. Program Description
The University of Pennsylvania School of Design offers a four-week intensive studio program in art and architecture.
Art students choose major courses in animation, drawing, filmmaking, painting, photography or sculpture. In addition, they select two-week projects in ceramic wheel throwing, figure drawing, filmmaking, graphic design, photography, printmaking and book arts, or Web design. Architecture students follow a full-day studio intensive schedule every day.
Staff Overview
Students work primarily with University of Pennsylvania faculty from around the world.
Dorm life is overseen by Resident Assistants (RTAs) who are typically current UPenn students.
Setting & Accommodations
Students live in University of Pennsylvania dorms with other students participating in the program. UPenn is located in an area of Philadelphia across the Schuylkill River and just west of Center City. The campus is about a two hour drive from New York City and Washington D.C.
Students primarily eat at the UPenn campus dining hall. The dining hall features a main entree accompanied by salad, fruit, vegetables, and sandwiches. Students also visit local eateries like Starbucks, Einstein Bagels, Marathon Grill, and more.
Safety Standards
Julian Krinsky Camps & Programs has a nurse, doctor, pediatric nurse practitioner, and trainer on-call at all times. In the event of a more serious illness or injury, a hospital is located less than 10 minutes from camp.
