Program Description
Julian Krinsky Career Builders: Summer Internships in Philadelphia gives 11th and 12th grade students the opportunity to explore real work in their chosen field while enjoying campus life at the University of Pennsylvania. Students are matched with internships in professional offices or businesses located in Greater Philadelphia. Students choose from careers in a diverse set of fields including business, education, entertainment, fashion, law, spots management, and more. Students dress professionally and work from 9-5 each day at their assigned internship for a stipend of $125 per week. Past internship providers have included Deutsche Bank, Milkboy Recordings, Philadelphia Eagles, Philadelphia Inquirer, Ritz-Carlton, and more.
The Julian Krinsky Career Builders: Summer Internships in Philadelphia program isn’t all about work – students get to visit Independence Hall, Penn’s Landing, and other regional hotspots during their free time.
Staff Overview
The Julian Krinsky residential staff is responsible for all social aspects of Career Builders. Residential advisors are college juniors, seniors, and recent graduates.
Setting & Accommodations
Students live in University of Pennsylvania dorms with other students participating in the program. UPenn is located in an area of Philadelphia across the Schuylkill River and just west of Center City. The campus is about a two hour drive from New York City and Washington D.C.
Students primarily eat at the UPenn campus dining hall. The dining hall features a main entree accompanied by salad, fruit, vegetables, and sandwiches. Students also visit local eateries like Starbucks, Einstein Bagels, Marathon Grill, and more.
Safety Standards
Julian Krinsky programs have a nurse, doctor, pediatric nurse practitioner, and trainer on-call at all times. In the event of a more serious illness or injury, a hospital is located less than 10 minutes from camp.
