Located at Haverford College on Philadelphia’s prestigious Main Line, the Julian Krinsky Enrichment Program offers expert instruction in the arts, cooking, business, SAT prep, and dozens of other popular subjects, sports, trips, and special programs. The nearly endless list of activities and opportunities gives students a taste of the excitement and challenge of college life while promoting age-appropriate instruction and responsibilities. Coupled with dedicated faculty who engage students in all subject areas, participants will undoubtedly leave with new goals, skills, and passions. In addition, students get their first taste of dorm life on the campus of one of America’s most prestigious liberal arts colleges. For students looking for a summer experience where they can learn, grow, and have fun, the Julian Krinsky Enrichment Program is simply unmatched.

Program Description

Days start off with your choice of classes. Depending on a camper’s goals, participants can study up to four different subjects during morning classes throughout the session. Course time is scheduled using “Major” or “Discovery” Courses.

Major Courses are intensive academic courses that meet for three hours a day Monday through Friday. One Major course comprises a full schedule for the session. Major tracks include business, community service, cooking, fashion design, music, or Kaplan SAT, ACT, and PSAT prep.

For campers looking to sample a variety of subjects, Discovery Courses are 90 minute classes that meet on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday. A full schedule consists of four Discovery courses. Discovery course areas include cooking, ESL, fashion design, art, computers, debate, drama, fencing, photography, psychology, radio, self-defense, speed reading, video production, yoga, chess, guitar, journalism, logic, magic, performing arts, dance, and more.

During the afternoon, students choose two workshops from a list that changes weekly. Workshops include acting, architecture, dancing, business, chess, design, computers, cooking, creative writing, forensics, engineering, fashion, music, sports, video production and more.

Finally, students have the opportunity to take trips to various regional hotspots on the weekend. Destinations include Baltimore, Hershey Park, comedy clubs, Dorney Park, New York City, white water rafting, and more.

Staff Overview

The Julian Krinsky Enrichment program features separate residential and instructional staff. Drawn mostly from top local schools and colleges, program instructors are career educators who have devoted their professional lives to the educational, emotional, and social development of young people.

Residential counselors come from across America and around the world, giving the staff diversity and a wide range of experiences. Residential counselors stay on the same floor with their assigned groups and provide friendship, support, and guidance as needed.

Setting & Accommodations

Students live in dorm rooms on the 216 acre campus of Haverford College. The college is located in Haverford, Pennsylvania about 2 hours from New York City and Washington D.C.

Most students have private rooms furnished with a bed, dresser, desk, chair, fan, and refrigerator. Students can request to room with a friend and will share a bathroom with others on their floor. Boys and girls have separate accommodations and housekeepers clean common areas daily.

Meals are served cafeteria style in the campus dining hall. The dining hall features a wide range of entrees and alternatives at every meal.

Safety Standards

Julian Krinsky Camps & Programs have a nurse, doctor, pediatric nurse practitioner, and trainer on-call at all times. In the event of a more serious illness or injury, a hospital is located less than 10 minutes from camp.
