For middle school students looking for a summer where they can do what they enjoy most, the Julian Krinsky Xploration Program covers an incredibly wide range of interesting subjects and activities. The Xploration Program gives students a chance to discover new ideas, skills, and experiences in a friendly atmosphere of exploration and growth. Program Description
Xploration workshops meet for 90 minutes each morning. The schedule alternates on Monday, Wednesday and Friday or Tuesday and Thursday. Students choose their morning courses for the full session while completing their application. Xploration workshops explore activities like tennis, art, computers, dance, engineering, ESL, fashion, gaming, guitar, magic, photography, video production, and more.
In the afternoon, campers select two workshops from a list that changes weekly. Afternoon workshops give students a chance to take their morning programs a little further or try something completely different. Afternoon workshops include acting, architecture, dancing, business, chess, design, computers, cooking, creative writing, forensics, engineering, fashion, music, sports, video production and more.
Finally, students have the opportunity to take trips to various regional hotspots on the weekend. Destinations include Baltimore, Hershey Park, comedy clubs, Dorney Park, New York City, white water rafting, and more.
Staff Overview
The Julian Krinsky Xploration Program features separate residential and instructional staff. Drawn mostly from top local schools and colleges, program instructors are career educators who have devoted their professional lives to the educational, emotional, and social development of young people.
Residential counselors come from across America and around the world, giving the staff diversity and a wide range of experiences. Residential counselors stay on the same floor with their assigned groups and provide friendship, support, and guidance as needed.
Setting & Accommodations
Students at the Julian Krinsky Xploration Program live in dorms at the park-like campus of Bryn Mawr College. The college is located in Bryn Mawr, Pennsylvania about 2 hours from New York City and Washington D.C.
Students are housed in double, triple, or quad air-conditioned rooms with a bed, desk, chair, dresser, and common refrigerator. Housekeepers clean daily but students are responsible for their own rooms. Boys and girls live in separate accommodations.
Meals are served cafeteria style in the campus dining hall. The dining hall features a wide range of entrees and alternatives at every meal.
Safety Standards
Julian Krinsky Camps & Programs have a nurse, doctor, pediatric nurse practitioner, and trainer on-call at all times. In the event of a more serious illness or injury, a hospital is located less than 10 minutes from camp.
