Choice Camps Recommendation of Long Lake Camp for the Arts
Set in a traditional camp setting, Long Lake Camp for the Arts goes beyond the tradition camp experience. It boasts over 20 studios for the performing, musical and fine arts for campers to utilize over the summer. Here, creativity flourishes and friends and memories are made. Campers are provided with individual guidance, private lessons and small studio workshops to continue growth in their area.
The small size of this camp allows the attention each camper needs to hone their talents. Over 150 teachers, professionals and counselors are eager to share their talents with campers and the 200+ acre campus provides ample facilities to do so.
Program Description
Campers are free to pick all of their activities and individualize their schedule to fit their personal interests. They are free to mingle with all campers and meet people with similar and different interests. No previous experience is required to attend Long Lake Camp for the Arts; it’s a place to try and learn new things.
“At Long Lake, you are never left out!” Long Lake Camp for the Arts ensures campers of any ability will participate in camp-wide productions and shows. With over 30 theater productions a summer, every camper has the opportunity to perform on stage. The dance program also strives to be a non-competitive as possible by incorporating all campers into its shows. Advanced dancers can showcase their talents while beginners get to experience the aspects of a large, professional show.
The Fine-Arts Camp, Music Camp, Film Camp, Circus Camp and Rock Camp also encourage these equal-opportunity ideals for all mastery levels. Experienced professionals teach campers the fine details of their craft in a fun environment of creative self-expression
Staff Overview
All directors are long term permanent professional who love camp. Long Lake counselors and staff offer their expert experience and talents and pass them along every summer to their campers. All of the staff is chosen based on experience in their field as well as for their compassion and kindness toward campers. Their main focus is to encourage confidence to try to new things and make campers feel at home.
Setting & Accommodations
As a former estate, Long Lake Camp for the Arts campers stay in single-sex houses with 6-8 people to a room. Counselors stay in a room down the hall and provide supervision for each room. Each house overlooks different parts of camp and provides gorgeous views of the lake and waterfront. Three times a day campers meet in the beautiful fieldstone Dining Hall for meals and other social events.
Safety Standards
All staff members are trained to be vigilant in safety practices in terms of stunts and physical performances and campers are under supervision during these performances at all times. All rooms are equipped with fire alarms. Registered nurses are on staff 24 hours a day and a camp doctor is located 5 minutes away.
