Choice Camps Recommendation of Maine Teen Camp
Nestled between scenic Lake Stanley and Trafton Pond, Maine Teen Camp has been providing a unique experience created solely for teens since 1984. The program combines a rich blend of traditional camp activities with unique additions that appeal to a diverse range of interests.
Maine Teen Camp boasts an unparalleled music program, including modern sound equipment and the camp’s very own record label. Campers can join a band, create a song, and perform it at the MTC talent show. The facilities are complete with a sophisticated recording studio that allows campers to explore any genre of music and record their own songs.
Maine Teen Camp is also noted for a truly diverse population - more than 20% of campers come from outside the United States. In addition, about 40% of the staff comes from overseas. The camp is truly a melting pot of world cultures.
Program Description
Maine Teen Camp is an entirely free-choice program. Campers choose five activities each day with a free period each afternoon. Activities include many traditional camp favorites –field sports, water sports, creative arts, and performing arts are all featured at MTC.
Campers can also take advantage of the beautiful Maine scenery during trips outside of camp. MTC trips include white water rafting at the Kennebec River, Atlantic Ocean fishing, whale watching, shopping excursions, concert trips, and more.
Staff Overview
Maine Teen has a 4:1 camper-to-counselor ratio. All counselors are over the age of 20 with an average age of 24. Staff undergo weeklong training specific to various teen issues using role play, lectures and discussion.
