Choice Camps Recommendation of Pine Forest Camp
Owned and operated by the same family since 1931, Pine Forest Camp is one of America’s oldest camps operating under continuous family ownership. Throughout the generations, one thing has always stood the test of time - a firm commitment to providing a quality camp experience for children of all ages. Set on 1,000 private acres in northeastern Pennsylvania’s Pocono Mountains, Pine Forest Camp features an impressive list of indoor and outdoor facilities. Campers eat great food, play exciting sports, live with caring counselors, and make friendships that last a lifetime. For campers looking for a traditional summer camp experience with more than 40 activity choices, Pine Forest Camp has everything you can imagine.
Program Description
Pine Forest Camp features a broad selection of sports, arts, swimming, and adventure activities. Divisions are broken down every two grades, and each has about 50 children. Pine Forest provides an environment that enhances self-esteem and fosters personal growth. Along the way, campers will be free to exercise their independence while at the same time develop great social and interpersonal skills through the friendships they build with fellow peers.
Staff Overview
Most Pine Forest staff members are child development professionals or college students. The average counselor age is 20-21 years and about 90% come from the United States. The rest come from England, Scotland and other English-speaking countries.
Setting & Accommodations
Campers live in traditional bunks with 8-10 campers and 2-3 counselors. All cabins have hot showers, modern bathrooms, and electricity.
Pine Forest campers eat a variety of nutritional kid-friendly foods. In addition to a main entrée at each meal, the camp offers a salad bar and vegetarian options to accommodate even the pickiest eaters.
Safety Standards
Pine Forest features a modern health center staffed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week by one doctor and four nurses.
At the waterfront, all lifeguards are American Red Cross Water Safety Instructor certified.
Pine Forest Camp is accredited by the American Camp Association and meets more than 300 safety standards set forth by the organization.
