Choice Camps Recommendation of Summer at Delphi

The Delphian School’s summer program blends academic training with a variety of elective offerings that include challenging outdoor activities and cultural opportunities. The school’s personal approach to learning truly sets Delphi apart and allows students to thrive both academically and socially. Students are encouraged to connect with staff and faculty and are assigned teachers and advisors who provide them with adult friendship and encourage their growth throughout the duration of the program.

The Delphian School’s pristine Pacific Northwest campus covers 800 acres of rolling hills, meadows and forests in Sheridan, Oregon. The summer program encourages students to utilize the school’s state-of-the-art labs and classrooms while encouraging students to connect socially and build friendships. Students are offered a truly international experience at the Delphian School. Students come from across the United States, Japan, Germany, Australia and other countries to learn and grow together.

Program Description

The Delphian School offers more than 250 courses and classes each summer. Separate programs are designed for Elementary, Middle School and Upper School students. Delphi’s summer program is dedicated to improving the way students learn and study. Through basic instruction in the teachings of L. Ron Hubbard, students can master the process of learning and realize education is a truly pleasurable experience. Upon their arrival at Delphi, students are given diagnostic tests to determine their personal program based on their interests, strengths and weaknesses. Teachers ensure students apply the knowledge they acquire in the classroom to their own lives and track student progress.

The Delphian School’s summer program in beautiful Sheridan isn’t all about work – students get to take weekend trips to exciting locations including Seattle or the Oregon sand dunes. Trips also include camping, beach visits and white-water rafting excursions.

Staff Overview

The Delphi School’s full-time and part time teachers are trained in the study methods of L. Ron Hubbard that are used at the school. Boarding students enrolled in the Elementary and Middle Schools have Personal Teachers. These faculty and staff members generally eat most meals with students, oversee their schedules and spend time with them on evenings and weekends. Similarly, Upper School students have Faculty Advisors who provide friendship and guidance.

Setting & Accommodations

Students live in dormitory buildings with other students participating in the program. Rooms overlook the beautiful Willamette Valley and vary from single rooms to large rooms that sleep six students. The Delphian School is located in a fertile area of Sheridan and is surrounded by rolling hills, meadows and farmlands which provide excellent resources for outdoor activities.

Dining facilities are located in the main building of the campus and overlook a lush oak and fur forest. Meals are nutritious and menus include locally grown organic fruits and vegetables. A student store and snack bar are also available to students.

Safety Standards

The Delphi School has a staff member that serves as a medical liaison and lives on campus. Doctors are on call in the nearby town of McMinnville. In the event of a more serious illness or injury, a hospital is located less than 30 minutes from the school.
