Travel for Teens hopes to make tour members more competent, confident and prepared for a world outside of their comfort zone.

Trip Description

The tour begins in Athens, center of the Ancient World and today a thriving metropolis. Start off at the majestic Acropolis, heart of the ancient empire and home to the famous Parthenon. Then turn your attention to the city of today, where you’ll shop busy markets, learn to cook Greek food, go windsurfing in sparkling seas, and much more. As on all TFT trips, you have choices every day so that you can design your own personal itinerary!
Departing the mainland for the Aegean Sea, the next trip is to visit two of the most stunning of the Greek Islands. You’ll kick back and live the traditional Greek island life amidst warm Mediterranean breezes on terraces overlooking the blue sea, white sand beaches, and fragrant flowers.
Throughout your travels, you’ll be in the company of guides who speak the language like a native and know the terrain like the back of their hand.
You’ll have insider access to this exciting and diverse culture in ways you can’t get elsewhere, as we head inside tiny shops to meet local bakers and artisans, and learn about the culture from the people who live it every day of their lives.

Staff Overview

All staff members undergo extensive interviewing, training, and ongoing evaluation. All counselors are certified in first-aid and CPR. Very few new staff are hired each year due to high retention rate. Trip leaders do not lead a trip without prior experience as a TFT counselor. With few exceptions, students are fully supervised on all of our journeys. Most staff members have lived in the countries they are leading each trip in and are able to offer deeper insights into the culture and lifestyle.

Setting & Accommodations

Travelers will stay in authentic hotels close to the center of each city to maximize the cultural experience. Travel for Teens tries to avoid staying in
chain hotels to encourage immersion into each specific region.

Athens—travelers stay at a 3 star hotel only a five minute walk in the center of Athens near Syntagma. Rooms average between 2-4 people.

Paros—2 ½ star hotel in the capital of Parokia .5 KM’s from the port and 2 minutes from the beach.

Santorini—capital of Fira in Villas looking out on the ocean. On the islands, both hotels have pools.

Safety Standards

Travelers are under staff supervision at all times except select hour to hour and a half shopping trips. While on the mountains professionals supervise and teach correct technique to avoid injury. Travel for teens analyzes every aspect and detail of each trip and goes over contingency plans and emergency numbers for each country. Each site and hotel is visited and approved before bringing a group and first aid kits are always on hand. English-speaking doctors are on hand most of the time, but when they are not the bilingual staff act as interpreters.
