Waterville Valley Summer Camp is a co-ed sports camp located in New Hampshire’s world famous White Mountain National Forest. The camp is founded on the “Sports for a Lifetime” philosophy that there are certain sports – tennis, swimming, golf, and biking – that you learn as a child and participate in for the rest of your life. These sports, taught by highly trained instructors, form the core of Waterville Valley’s extensive summer camp program.

Program Description

Camp programs take place at many of Waterville Valley’s premiere sports and fitness facilities. The program is structured to give campers a taste of each activity focus.

Tennis is taught at the Waterville Valley Tennis Center which is consistently ranked as one of the Top 50 tennis resorts by Tennis Magazine. The facility has won numerous other awards for world-class courts and instruction.

Golf instruction takes place at Waterville Valley Golf Club’s scenic 9-hole course. The family-friendly course is great for both beginners and more experienced golfers.

The Waterville Valley Summer Camp swim program utilizes the American Red Cross Learn-to-Swim standards. Skills are categorized into six levels with the objective of teaching campers to swim and to be safe in, on, and around water.

Waterville Valley Summer Camp also takes advantage of the surrounding White Mountain National Forest with overnight hikes to the top of mountains that offer panoramic views of the New England countryside. Campers can also bike down dozens of trails at Waterville Valley’s Mountain Bike Park.

Staff Overview

Waterville Valley Summer Camp is staffed by older, professional instructors supported by college-age counselors. Many instructors are PGA, USPTA, and USTA pros with considerable experience teaching sports to children. Counselors must complete at least one year of college prior to their employment.

Setting & Accommodations

Campers are housed at the NorthStarr Inn, a dormitory-style inn centrally located in Waterville Valley. Each room has a bathroom and shower. There are typically 3-5 campers per room and at least one counselor. The Inn features plenty of common space with pool and foosball tables to keep groups of campers entertained.

Camp meals are catered by local restaurants. Salads are always offered as an alternative to standard menu items.

Safety Standards

Waterville Valley Summer Camp employs a full-time nurse director supported by part time nurses and EMTs. In the event of a more serious illness or injury, campers are taken to a local pediatric clinic or Spear Memorial Hospital.
