Choice Camps Recommendation of Windsor Mountain International: Bridge Mexico
Windsor Mountain Student Travel: Bridge Mexico is designed for students interested in traveling to an exciting destination to share in cross-cultural experiences, community service learning, and language opportunities. Students should join this program ready to immerse themselves in local culture as they connect with their Spanish-speaking peers on travel excursions and community service projects. Students should be prepared to meet new people, experience new cultures, try new foods, and show up with an open mind.
Trip Description
Lush mountains, valleys and coastal plains dotted with waterfalls, lakes, and breathtaking cloud forests create the perfect setting for an exciting and challenging summer of service work, cultural immersion, and outdoor adventure. Work alongside Mexican students to repair, paint and improve their school facilities. Help organize an annual Humanitarian Brigade that provides basic medical care to over one thousand people. Create a Friendship Camp for local children including sports, new games, and arts and crafts. Spend quality time living with host families practicing Spanish and enjoying music, dance, and fantastic home cooking. Staff Overview
Windsor Mountain Student Travel leaders are professional educators over the age of 23 who come from all over the world. Many have backgrounds in classroom teaching, outdoor education, international relations and/or humanitarian aid.
Each leader is put through a lengthy interview process, and required to participate in a 2 week pre-trip staff training at Windsor Mountain’s International Summer Camp.
Setting & Accommodations
Accommodations include rustic community buildings, home stays, hostels, and camping.
Throughout the trip, students learn basic cooking skills. Windsor Mountain travel groups make nutritious, tasty meals which help students keep up the level of energy needed to participate in an active summer adventure. Program leaders can almost always accommodate special dietary needs.
Safety Standards
All counselors have extensive travel experience and are trained in first aid and CPR.
Windsor Mountain International is accredited by the American Camp Association and meets more than 300 safety standards set forth by the organization.
